louped

Use your coding agent

Let Claude Code, Codex or Cursor write, run and read your experiments.

louped has no agent of its own. It connects to the one you already use.

louped init writes three things your agent reads:

  • AGENTS.md: how to work in the project.
  • .mcp.json: starts louped mcp, which talks to the running app.
  • .claude/skills/: steps for starting an experiment, reading results, running on a cluster, writing a report, changing the app's pages and adding a plugin.

Start the app with louped serve, then open your agent in the project folder and ask it what to test.

Tools the agent gets

ToolWhat it does
experiments, experiment, runs, runLists questions and runs
samples, sample, figures, figure, compareReads results
new_experimentStarts a question
launchables, launch_options, launchStarts a job
jobs, job, cancel_jobFollows or stops jobs
export_job, import_resultSends a job to a cluster, brings it back
push, pullShares runs through the remote
ui_page, ui_selectionReads the app's pages and what you picked
set_part, set_layout, set_presetChanges what a page shows
ui_showPoints you at parts of a page, with a note
cohort, cohorts, save_cohortReads and saves a set of a run's items
add_view, deriveAdds a figure or columns from a run's files

Work the agent starts shows in the app like your own. To ask about or change something on a page, Shift+click it (as many parts as you like) and your agent gets them with their data (Customize the app).

Ask for a view the app lacks ("these claims in 3D", "a column for which ones hedge") and the agent makes it where it belongs: a column in the run's Items, a figure on the run or on the experiment's page, then points you at it. Ask again to change it; it keeps the name.

Without louped init

Add this to your agent's MCP config. Use uv run louped mcp if louped is installed in a uv project.

{ "mcpServers": { "louped": { "command": "louped", "args": ["mcp"] } } }

In Claude Code you can also install it as a plugin:

/plugin marketplace add ashworks1706/louped
/plugin install louped@louped
